MIRIAM & SYLVAN’S WEDDING!

THE MAIN EVENT

The ceremony and party will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Smith College Conference Center in Northampton, MA, overlooking Paradise Pond.

THE WHOLE WEDDING WEEKEND

The festivities begin Friday, July 18 with an informal pizza dinner for those of you arriving from out of town and anyone else who would like to join. This will be held outdoors at a covered pavilion at Look Park, a ten minute drive from downtown Northampton. Mention "Felton-Dansky picnic” at the entry station.

Saturday, July 19 is the wedding.

On Sunday, July 20 you are welcome to join us for two optional gatherings. In the morning, join us for bagels and schmears at a location tbd.

That afternoon we will make a pilgrimage to the Eric Carle Museum of Picture-Book Art in Amherst (20 min away) in honor of Sylvan’s father who loved Carle’s work.

TRAVEL, HOTELS, and TRANSPORTATION:

Travel to Northampton. The closest airport is Bradley in Hartford, CT. Amtrak has a station in Northampton. For more flexibility with train timing, you can also take Amtrak to Springfield, about a 30-minute drive away and take taxi, ride share, or get picked up.

Getting Around. You may wish to rent a car to pick up at Bradley airport. If you would like to explore sharing a car rental with other guests, let us know and we’ll put you in touch with folks. For public transit options, there’s a shuttle from Bradley called Valley Transporter that can take you to your lodgings and you can use Uber and Lyft while in Northampton or visiting nearby towns.

WHAT TO WEAR

Dressy but not formal. It’s the summer - have fun with it and be comfortable. Sylvan will wear a suit and tie and Miriam will wear a fancy red dress! Bright colors welcome!

Local Tips

Bookstores. Don’t miss Broadside Bookshop, the store co-owned by Miriam’s mother Nancy! This is Broadside's 50th birthday year - you can find it at 247 Main Street in Northampton. We also love Book Moon in Easthampton and The Raven in Northampton for used books, and Bookends is the new lesbian bookstore in Florence (unpredictable hours - check first).
Ice Cream. The neighboring town of Hadley is home to several dairy farms. We like to head over to Mill Valley Milk Farm (aka Scoops at the Silos) or Flayvors of Cook Farm (yes really spelled that way).
Hikes and Sights. Smith Greenhouse and grounds. Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary, and Silvio Conte Refuge’s Fort River Trail (flat nature walk along boardwalks amid trees - good for kids). Skinner State Park has beautiful views from their summit house, which is driveable or hikeable. Go for a walk or bike ride on the Norwottuck Rail Trail in honor of Miriam's father Joel, who loved bicycles and was very involved in expanding rail-trail access in the Northampton area.
Swims. We like Puffer Pond in Amherst - but let’s double check that its open.
