Announcing...

High Winds is here.

I'm thrilled to announce the arrival of the new book I created with designer Jessica Fleischmann. High Winds is an art book in a genre I'm calling "western phantasmagoria." It's a bedtime book for adults based on my experiences with insomnia, gender transition, and moving to Los Angeles. Huge thanks to X Artists' Books for welcoming me into their family!  Buy the book here and join my mailing list for news about upcoming events (there's gonna be a bunch in LA and a special surprise for NYC).

In Development

Trainers, or the brutal unpleasant atmosphere of this most disagreeable season.

My new piece is a theatrical essay about falling off a horse and a tale of infatuation among a group of depressed revolutionaries. It's based on an essay by Montaigne and the story of his intellectual love affair with political thinker Etienne de la Boetie. I had the chance to work on it this summer with director Meiyin Wang and designer Aubree Lynn at Berkeley Rep's Ground Floor. I'll be working on building this show in Los Angeles throughout 2017-18 thanks to a generous Hellman Fellowship from UCLA.
